Mark Goines Joins Tempo Board of Directors
Former Intuit Executive, Co-Founder of PassMark Security Brings Unique Blend of Expertise to Decoupled Debit Payment Pioneer
SAN MATEO, CA — January 7, 2008 — Tempo Payments, Inc., today announced the appointment of Mark Goines to its board of directors. Goines brings to the board expertise in consumer technology, financial services, software and online services.
Goines was most recently co-founder and chief marketing officer at PassMark Security, a developer of multifactor authentication systems for the financial services industry that was acquired by RSA Security in 2006. Previously, he managed the consumer division of Intuit including Quicken, Quicken.com, Quicken Insurance and Quicken Mortgage.
"Mark brings a unique blend of experience that will be very beneficial as Tempo executes on its strategy to provide financial institutions and other card issuers with flexible technology solutions to rapidly deploy innovative card payment solutions such as decoupled debit," said Tempo CEO Mike Grossman. "We look forward to his contributions as we foster a new era of creativity in the card payment industry."
Early in his career Goines managed marketing for retailers and consumer banks. As vice president of new products at Schwab he developed and marketed software and services that formed the foundation of today's online trading industry, as well as a series of consumer financial vehicles delivered online and through Schwab's branch network.
Goines joined Intuit when it acquired ChipSoft, where he was managing the TurboTax business. Following the acquisition, he ran the Consumer Tax business for Intuit as vice president of that division. Later, he was senior vice president of Intuit's International Division, managing businesses on every continent, creating new products, acquiring companies and building partnerships to expand distribution and reach.
"I'm excited to join Tempo's board and participate in its growth as the primary platform provider enabling financial institutions to quickly develop and deploy new payment programs," said Goines. "Tempo pioneered the concept of decoupled debit and is leading the effort to provide issuers, merchants and consumers with innovative debit card programs."
Goines also serves on the boards of Credit Interlink, Nolo.com, BullRun Financial, and Mint.com and is a Trustee of the Los Altos School Board. He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Business Administration.
